About John Hockensmith
A native of St. Petersburg, John Hockensmith has witnessed first-hand the growth of his hometown into the vibrant city it is today. His family has been in St. Pete since 1937, and both his father and grandfather were residential building contractors who built many notable homes throughout the city. With his history and extensive knowledge of our community and its wonderful, unique neighborhoods, as well as his long-term background in the real estate industry, John takes pride in providing personalized service in helping his clients with their real estate needs.
John has over 30 years of experience in real estate, including marketing, contracting, design, remodeling, and investing. John started his career with IBM, in high-tech engineering and product marketing roles. He then ran a successful residential remodeling company in the Washington DC Metropolitan area for 23 years, with multiple showrooms, that specialized in kitchen and baths. In addition to a degree in engineering from University of Florida, John earned an MBA from George Washington University, and a Masters in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University.
